mark owen bmw 316 1896 ish 1999 i have a prob when starting my car from cold,it surges for aprox one mile.when i try to speed up my revs move but with no power.i went to a garage and they say i have a split gasket and water is getting on my spark plugs???(not losing water)he wants the thick side of £600 to fix it,but other garages say it's prob something to do with the choke,any ideas anyone???  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 15/10/2007

Kim hi what do you mean by "my revs move but with no power"? if it revs up like the clutch were depressed then sounds like its the clutch.  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 26/11/2007   adam definetly sounds like cluth slip to me, although i know some cases as you describe where the slave seals have gone.  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 15/12/2007   andy hi, he means he sets off and presses throttle, car doesnt rev or do anything then a few seconds later it picks up , am i right? if so then i have the same random problem, my gauges go eratic for a second whilst the problem persists, i have been told its definately the crank sensor and if its like mine there are three different ones to choose from, give the car shop your reg and they will tell you which one is your cars replacement, hope this helps, if im on wrong track sorry guys, lol, andy  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 07/08/2009
