Question
Lee Oatley Daewoo Espero 1.8L 1997
car broke down while driving and now the engine turns but it does not fire, checked the spark which was good also checked the fuel pump and timeing belt, both seem to be fine no problems with fuses. wondering if the fuel injectors or the ecu are the problem. any suggestions?

had same problem (symptom)on 2.o cdxi, fuel pump appeared to be working, fuel present at fuel rail, but pump cut off after a very short burst lasting between 1-5 secs. spark good. lights did not go off on dash. if you sprayed easy start into intake, car would run and lights went out on dash. ended up taking it to a vauxhall dealer, who told me the fuel pump was not producing enough pressure and they said they could fit a patern one. however on recieving the car back it runs very poorly no performance, and the airbag light stays on... looking at the pump it does not appear to have been changed (although the patern pump may have used the original fixing plate?) the airbag light was ok b4 the fault, which makes me wonder if they have fiddled the with the ecu?
did you ever cure your problem and if so what was the cause?

the ecu runs the whole show mainly fuel and ingnition curve so the only real way to find out is to replace the ecu get a second hand one for about 20 pound easy to fit just unplug and pull out. either that or pay the dealer silly money to say ermm ooohh could beee dunno. but i have had this problem befor on my 306 had a spark but no go asked a mate he said ecu so i changed it and waalaa it running.

your problem mey be with the distributor module. this is inside the distributor.this provide current to the ignition coil which sends current to the distibutor

try disconnecting the battery for 12 hours.. that will reset your ecu and should allow your car to start

when some cars run out of water the head warps and dislodges the valves so they do not seal, not allowing the cylinders to compress. in this case, a head service will need to be done. i had this happen to a daewoo cielo twice. the first time the engine was replaced, the second time the head has been serviced.
