Question
Mike Hinton Holden Vectra 2.2L 2000
recently i managed to pull my car key apart whilst it was in the ignition on position. a fob cord was attached to it and i stepped onto it, causing the plastic housing to come apart. the engine cut out. i put the key back together and when i tried starting it nothing happened. it turns over fine but just won't start. i assume its the immobiliser but how an i overcome it? i have a spare key which i havcen't tried yet. i've also left it in the on position for an hour to try and restart but again the engine turns over but doesn't start.

you need to open the key again and make sure the chip is still in the key if not check the floor by your feet, the chip is about the size of your nail and has writing on it
