stella honda accord 121 1988 white smoke is coming out of the backend of my car.through exhaust pipe. could this be a blown head or maybe the engine is going out. the car is not overheating. i purchased the car and owner said that the oil was overfilled. would that cause the car to let out that much smoke. it was like i was in the sky filled with white clouds. i couldn't even see the cars around me. someone else told me it could be the water pump. can you give me some insight on this matter. thank you stella  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 10/07/2003

Steve overfilled oil can cause a helluva lotta smoke - it happened to me with hire van (sorry hertz) - it also caused the engine to flood and the vehicle to over accelerate so do be careful. would suggest an oil drain/change.  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 11/07/2003   alan @ was as steve said too much oil could be a problem, has anyone checked to see if the level is correct? also it would be worth keeping an eye on the water level(only check water in cooling system when engine is cold to avoid the danger of burns from scaulding water under pressure!!). if no water loss is noticed then probably not a cylinder head problem. does this smoke hang in the air for a long time and have a blueish tinge(usually this is caused by oil). what mileage has the car done?  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 16/07/2003   SOHAIL.A.KHAN thanks  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 24/04/2005   jo 1192 honda accord squeees just driving and real bood when turning. put in new trans axils 2 years ago.  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 04/05/2005   kevin hi stella, this is a typical head gasket gone, the water is mixing with the fuel and huge amounts of white smoke from exhaust is the outcome. have it checked out. good luck kevin  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 09/09/2009
