Question
Alison Carr Land Rover Discovery 2.5 Tdi 1994/1995
can someone please help? our land rover is chugging all of the time - have changed the glow plugs / battery / lift pump. each time car starts it chuggs and splutters, have to put foot down to the floor on the accelerator and still will not gain any speed. feels like it needs to really backfire to clear its-self - does anyone have any ideas, i feel like a learner kangarooing down the road , really need this car as we have a disabled daughter and need the space

hi there, have you tried changing the fuel filter,or checking the air filter isnt blocked, also,is there dirty fuel in tank, just a few possibilities that could cause this problem, one other thing is that your fuel gauge could also be reading wrong, isnt a problem if you regulary fill your tank, i would go for changing filters.

check the plastic pipe from the turbo wastegate pipe to the injector pump. if this is leaking you will have no boost fuel.

hi

we did finally sort the problem out. after a lot of money and different garages it turned out that it was the actual fuel pump which had corroded. we had to have a recon fuel pump fitted and all in all the work cost around £650.00. hope this helps.

check fuel system for leaks ( damp areas on fuel line ) lift panel in rear of disco over fuel tank for damp on pipes from fuel tank.also at fuel filter under rear axle for damp ( dont have to be wet ) sucks air into system. try it
