Question
Philip Hearsum Renault Laguna 2.2 2002
i have a laguna 2.2 turbo diesel. it has started to burn a lot of oil. i traveled about 200 miles and had to put in 2l of oil afterwards. the "glow plug" warning light started to come on and i'm sure that there was smoke under acceleration. it does not smoke when idle and there is no signs of oil being deposited on the ground. it this a turbo problem and if so what expense can i expect? its a late 52 plate (dec 02) and has done 61000m, it has a full service history.
thanks in advance
phil.

if yiu were burnign that much oil you'd have a lot of smoke.
have you checked water for oil contamination (sign of headgasket blown)
you won't get any il on the floor as there is a tray that completely covers under side of engine, not too difficult to remove to check and replace about half hours work.

there were issues with the turbochargers on these engines,as well as other reliability problems,as for the glowplug indicator this may be an unrelated problem,as you are no doubt aware, turbochargers are expensive items, get an expert to check it out, only you can decide then what you are prepared to spend on it,good luck.
