Question
 Deirdre Nissan Primera 2.6 1998
i have a question regarding the brakes.

i encountered an intermittent problem yesterday where the cars brakes became stiff as if the car was not running, but the engine was running at the time. there doesn't seem to be a leak in any of the tubes linking the engine and vacuum booster and the connections are all tight.
this only happened once yesterday as i was parking.
i drove around for a bit trying to replicate the problem but the brakes worked fine. it happened once again when i was pulling out of a parking space.
i am afraid to drive the car in case this happens again while driving at speed.
can anyone tell me what this problem might be? is there anything else that could cause this brake locking besides a leak to the brake servo?

cheers!

hi deirdre, you need to explain a little more?
do you mean brakes stayed on? if only happens after parking could be your brakes are binding after releasing the handbrake.
if you mean the pedal is spongey then could be air in brake system.
