do you mean when you turn radio on it still only displays time and temp? or stays on even when ignition off?

hi,i have a vauxhall astra 1.7 2003 diesel, can anyone tell me why the snowflake like symbol keeps on appearing as i have been told it maybe n engine management light, i do not know enough about these things so if you can help please do...
