Ben Alexander Renault Laguna 1.8 rt 1995 / N the engine fires up perfectly well, but whilst driving along @ any speed, @ anytime, be it 5mins into journey or 30mins. the engine will cut out and i lose all electrical power too, just as though the ignition is switched off i suppose!! at first it cut out and came to life again within a blink of an eye, youd only notice it because the temperature gauge lit up as if the engine had just been started. now the cut outs are coming alot more frequent (5 times in a 30min journey!!) and lasting alot longer, up to 5-10sec. this then means me coasting until the car jumps back to life again! is this an ignition fault? any advice greatly appreciated thank you  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 03/06/2005

tony i have the same fault but mines now stoped completly someone said about the engine temp sensor causing the car to loose spark??????  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 11/06/2005   Whiteley renault laguna 1.8 sport 2000 this might help. on a long journey , hot weather the engine suddenly lost power and the red ignition light came on. on stopping and restarting could carry on for upto 10 miles when happened again. did this several times and completed journey. had the breakdown people investigate , no problems found (battery ,fuel ignition etc) then he got answer from a renault expert. the laguna suffers from a faulty connector to the fuel pump. the connector can work slightly loose (you wouldnt notice). restarting seems to force temp cnnection and fill up resevoir in pump. solution to make and break the conection several times. thought this had cured problem, but happened a month later on another hot day, long journey. this time i repeated making and breaking the connector and made sure a real tight fit withe the small holding strap in place. again this cured problem. i will be contacting renault to make sure i dont have to change the connector. location is in the boot at the back under the carpet. remove the rubber cover and you will see the pump connector.  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 26/06/2005   william moutray this seems to be similar to a problem i am having with my laguna 1.8. which of the leads have you broke and remade , there are three. could you say if you have a red coloured connector strap holding the middle lead. i noticed mine is broken. this may be what is causing my problem.  CLICK HERE to post your answer/comment Date Posted 01/07/2005
