| hi just wondering if anyone could help me what it is i bought my grand voyager 2 months ago it had only done 62.000 on the clock and had all full service history but since ive had it its been blowing white/grey smoke out the back not all the time but when it does it like pumps it out covering the whole of the street i no the side smoke is normal but this isent, ive had it checked out and couldnt find a problem [not chrysler] a local garage but he said the oil was over filled by a litre and it leaked so is that causing the smoking?? could someone please try and give me some advice thanks |

i hear a gushing noise (like water running) coming from glove box in my 2001 renault clio and the stop sign comes up when driving. what can be causing this? i called out the aa and he could not find anything wrong with the car. can anyone help? if you can what is the best place/way to fix this.

car is a poor starter, after many attempts & alot of finger crossing it will start, it ticks over ok but if i put my foot on accelerator quickly it will die, however jf i gradualy press accelerator it will rev up to max. if i leave it to tickover to warm up it will also cut out & is reluctant to start again.
ive put new plugs, leads,dizzycap/arm on it also cleaned throttle body replaced auto choke...what else can it be....help |

when stopped on traffic lights engine stalls sometimes, when driving long distance temp gauge do not show temp increase,looks like the engine is cold after driving 15 miles but it's not. rpm gauge is very unsteady when stopped and engine emits weird vibrations felt in the cabin. i changed spark plugs and plug wires but no improvement. what could be wrong?

| we've had the car for a few years trouble free and we just gave it to our son. now it has developed a problem that it will intermittently lose power while it's driving and then the engine stops. after a few minutes it starts again and is fine. only happens every few days. we've had it looked at by a number of mechanics who all give the car the all clear. it also went through the mot 3 weeks ago with flying colours. we're concerned that thsi is potentially very dangerous depending on wher the failure occurs but we don't knwo what to do next to solve it. |

i have a mk3 tdci mondeo that intermitently holds the revs when i change up the gear box,
i have had a diagnostic at a main dealer who recommended a new egr valve which was done, the fault remained, went back to the dealer who just stood there scratching his head suggesting that i leave him a blank cheque !

| hi, i have a power loss problem with my 2006 croma 1.9jtd, the engine lacks torque between 1000 - 2000 rpm, where i used to be able to accelerate away in 5th gear at these revs, i now have to change down. i suspected the egr valve was sticking so i removed it and cleaned it, the car definitley seems better but still has this annoying lack of power, does anyone have any ideas please? |

| i have just bought my car from a garage. after 20 min of driving away from the cort yard the car wouldnt let me drive any faster then 60 mph then after 5 min 30 mph then after another 5 min 10 mph then the car came to a stop. when i turn the key the car does start but as soon as i begin to pull away the car stops again. the car has been in the court yard for a while and was wondering if it could be the ammboliser?? any suggestions will be helpfull thanks again |

| when i start the car the battery light flickers, it goes out when i'm driving but as soon as i brake it comes back on, also the abs light comes on and it feels like the brakes jam on and the steering goes all heavy, the rev counter, speedo, petrol gauge, temperture gauge goes haywire one minute they work the next it doesnt, can anyone tell me what they think it could be please ?. thanks |

hey i got a peugeot 206, its in great condition only 180.000kmz.. when i bought it at the auction and drove it home i noticed the light of engine autodiagnostics warning light is on... i drove car home without any problems...
but 1 thing, the car's rev counter doesnt work.
its not moving, only the speed is showing, do u have any idea what causes the autdiagnostics warning light...
please help me out

| radio problem. i have the code i got from a citroen garage, but the radio is locked. it won't default back to code on the display. all i have is ---- on the display. this was after 3 wrong goes. (before i got the correct code)i have tried pressing bnd button, but then i get _ _ _ _ underneath the four dashes - - - - already on the screen. tried disconnecting battery for an hour, tried leaving radio on for an hour in the hope it resets itself. no joy. it's obviously locked. i also tried keeping bnd button pressed in and then turning radio on. it worked!..well for 2 minutes but you got a high pitched beep as well. after 2 mins, its turns itself off and back to ----. any ideas anyone? |

| i have this horrible inconsistent problem, it occurs every two weeks or so for 3-4 days consecutively. my car switches off and has an unstable idle before doing so, it also then doesn’t want to start, i have to wait 5-10 min for it to start, there’s also a black smoke coming out my exhaust when i eventually get it to start. last night when attempting to start i heard a load bang come from the engine. |

| having had the ecu replaced and ignition coil pack replaced,spark plugs manifold pressure sensor changed and the relay changed when driving the car there is still every 10 to 15 miles there is a slight hesitation in the running of the car ideas would be very helpful. have been told we may have to have all the wiring loom out of the car |

i took my car for mot and co2 was high, they changed some thing called pressure switch didint work then they tried to clean injector and after that it wouldnt start even with the old part!
they tell me they lost spark to one cylender and they cant trace it. can any one help? |

| i think i've got the infamous throttle hang problem when changing gears and coasting upto a junction when clutch is depressed.so far i have changed idle control valve,throttle position switch,temperature sensor on thermostat housing and checked all vacuum pipes on inlet manifold but still no joy.the other day i disconnected the speed sensor on rear of gearbox and it seems ok now but have now got no speedometer reading could it be a faulty speed sensor or the wiring or is the ecu just hiding the problem when its disconnected. i have got no loss of power or any misfiring issues,so dont think its anything to do with ignition side,plugs coil pack etc.just wondering if anyone has had the same issue coz i dont wanna spend much more money on it if i can thanks. |

| i recently bought this car, but was informed it had had an ignition fault(smoke came from dashboard)new plastic bit behind barrel fitted. currently has no main beam, horn on continuosly,drives great but engine cuts out if indicate right and wipers come on(wont switch off, but can adjust speed) but windows/mirrors/heater/stereo fine.battery also drains. wires from steering column melted(have taped up temporarily, and dont drive it. any clues would be glad to hear |

have 2001 octavia elegance automatic - every two weeks or so (and normally on hot starts) the engine revs erratically reving up and down, when i stop at lights and put car into netreul the revs continue to jump up and down then finally engine dies.

| can anyone help please? when driving the car is fine, no stalling, acceleration is responsive etc, but when i begin to slow down at junctions or come to a stop, the revs suddenly drop to below 4000 and the car stalls/cuts out. its becoming a regular annoying occurance. starting the car after is not a problem. i do find that it will not idle so i am having to keep revs up at 8000. could it be the idle injector? |

| hi my engine overheated a couple times when in traffic = the temp guage went to red stop found radiator cooling fan very stuff seized so i replaced the fan and motor with a new one - checked the 20amp fuse in fusebox under bonnet ok as i have no diagrams can anyone suggest further checks and where the things to check are located exsctly citroen say in addition that it could be ecu or relays but couldn't say which relay the fan works on? |

| the washer fluid level warning on my display keeps coming on even though my bottle is full. it is causing the washer pump not to work. all fuses are ok. i have tried to bypass the sensor in the bottle but without success.... |

i resently purchest a vectra which had the timing chain snapped and 10 bent valves, the head had been already been removed almost a year before and was left. i replaced the valves and valve seals. there was slight corrotion in the piston boars from the head being off for so long and oily soot on the pistons which i cleaned. i replaced the timing chain and tensioner replaced the head gasket and spark plugs. the car starts ok but there is alot of grey smoke from the exhaust and tickover is slightly erratic.
i have tried additives to clean the fuel system and even put quarter of a cup of wd40 and left for 2 days in each cylinder thinking it maybe a stuck piston ring but this seems to have made it worse. i have left the car running for 30 min still the same. what could be causing the problem. |

| hi i had a problem with my car it wouldnt start took it to ford who said it was the 4th injector that was faulty but they wanted £300 to replace so i said no took the car back hom and bought a second hand injector with same part number i fitted it and the car starts on the key but i have a problem the car is ok if standing idle etc no smoke but when i drive the car say 2 miles i get white smoke from the exhaust and when i stop at lights it seems to build up with more smoke etc i put it on a diagnostic it says pending code maf vaf flow mass sensor circuit a high input tried to clear the code but it comes back i tried unplugging the air mass sensor it doesnt change or do anything pluged in or out could there be a breather pipe of somewhere thats causing this also ive bleeded the fuel all perfect any help would be great |

| when i accelerate i get a grinding noise from the offside wheel. if i coast or de-accelerate i don't get the noise. would this be a drive shaft bearing or is there a support bearing on the offside. being disabled i can't get under the car to see myself. |

| boot lid wont lock. it looks a s though the hooked latch is in the right position, but it will not lock when lid closed. have tried using a screw driver to see if it will lock with boot open, pushing button i get a noise from mechanism but still no latch. has happened before but cleared itself. |

started engine to move car to better parking speck. would not re-start later on.
deffo sparking; -removed a spark plug, reconnected to ht, laid on engine and turned engine over. good spark on all 4 ht leads, although plug a little black rather than brown. removed air-filter to examine carburettor -which looked dry, and when i smelt in the 'pot' there was no smell of petrol. do not hear the petrol pump priming when i turn ignition on -but then again i don't think i ever have. i do hear a priming noise that coincides with the airbag light going out. when i removed the petrol cap i did not get the usual 'gasp' of air going into the tank caused by the vacuum effect of the pump drawing fuel. the engine light on the dash is steady -not flashing. i have about 1/4 to 1/3 tank of fresh petrol, from about a week ago. battery is newish, and has been recharged anyway. have removed and replaced what i believed to be the fuel pump fuse (as described in forums). don't know where fuel pump is to test if it's geeting current.
any tips/advice on what to try next, and/or where to find the fuel pump? it's a 1997 on a p. |

| i have an automatic 93 fiesta. it has only done 53,000. recently while driving it has slowed right down to 10mph and struggled to get above this. i took it to a garage who took the silencer out because it has blocked the rear exhaust. now unless i sit idle for 5 mins it still does it. also it has a lack of power and will not get above 60mph, previously i could get 80mph out of it. could it be the leads? it starts fine though. somebody has suggested that it might not be running on all cylinders. |

| can an ecu be fixed. i got my ecu not working nor showing the k sign on the dashboard then i ordered another one from uk the machine came with same mp number of 5.2 (bosch) and the k sign is seen with this one however its failing to start or run the engine. the dealers here in malawi say that it the new ecu has to come with a key and transponder how do you advise me and how much can it cost if am to buy from yu what is needed? |

i really change two starter motor and charged the battery, the car start but i’m getting a noisy sound and will not disengage from the flywheel, the starter motor is getting hot. i do not know whether if i’ve put the positive wire on the starter motor on the wrong way when reconnect it please help me.

the engine is miss firing from tick over to 2000revs, at this point the missfire is worse but at 2500 revs it seems to clear and runs smooth.
had injectors checked, they said they are ok. had diagnostics on, showed several faults probably brought up from changing fuel filter etc.
all the faults have been cleared and nothing has shown up on the diagnostics after running it several times, but the missfire is still the same.is there anything that might cause it without showing on diagnostics, or could it still be an injector problem.
any ideas would be apreciated.

| i have just replaced the engine in my zr 1.8i petrol. it was working fine, then i heard like a gurgling noise, i checked water and anti freeze and it all seems fine. have had my dad look at it and he cant find anything either. when was sitting stationery with car running the car started to overheat and temp gauge was rising? anyone any idea what could be? also since engines been changed speedo stopped working? and old mileage still showing? also engine management light keeps coming on although did that before was changed. any help would be great. thanks |
