| hi i have a problem with my automatic gearbox. there is a loud clunk when changing 1st-2nd and 3rd-4th gear. from the garage told mi that gearbox oil needs changing but now still does it. thanks. |

| sometimes after pushing the start button glow plug light stays on and car takes about 15 seconds to start, also when driving at low revs ( below 2300)it seems to pull back for a few seconds then the power resumes this also happens when changing gears at low revs, the temp gauge fluctuates in conjunction with this, any ideas ?? |

hi,
just replaced my injection pipes as one was cracked and leaking fuel.
as i tigtened the last pipe to the far right injector a small piece of plastic broke off. this is off the diesel return circuit and was acting as a blanking plug.
the car runs fine but is now leaking fuel. any ideas if the blank is a factory fitted part to the injector or if it can be replaced?
please help, need to get the car on the road

| when releasing he handbrake,the back right doesn't release and stays on. it is drivable but obviously driving with the back right drum stuck on is going to cause problems. does anyone know a soultion to this? shall i strip it down and clean it up to see what the problem is, or does someone already the problem and solution? |

| old car but has served me well. i've had an oil leak for over a year but keep an eye on it and top it up when requred. today, there appeared to be a noise coming from under the bonnet, after the engine stopped running. i thought perhaps i'd run it dry but water still remained in the tank when i looked. i started engine again soon afterwards and it was fine. also today, the hot air stopped working. is this related to problem. any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

| hi, my front wipers have just gone crazy. the washers fail to work at all (no water and the wipers won't move). additionally, moving the stalk up once for intermittent starts them in the normal constant wipe and when i move the stalk down for the single wipe they won't self park anymore and stop in the middle of the screen. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

| when slowing down rev counter dives beneath 500 revs and the engine cuts out. this does not happen every time - if the rev counter goes beneath the 500 revs and then up past the 500 towards the 1000 revs it does not cut out . i have serviced the car new plugs etc but still happens. any ideas please? |

starts up no problem, runs lumpy on tick over, revs going between 900 and 1000 on tick over, when driving at high speed and high revs no problems, seems to only be a problem on tick over i.e at lights. when the automatic gearbox is in drive the vehicle wants to move off which seems to be due to the revs going up and down producing rocking of the car.
all the above has been happening for 2 weeks now has got more severe. the lumpy running now happens at higher speed. also now begun to pump out masses of black smoke as though you have put diesel into a petrol vehicle. this has lead to undrivability of the car.(i am positive it is a diesel)
can someone please shed light on this problem |

well i have a few problems with this car....
i left it parked outside for 2 days (prior to this it was working fine).
now all of a sudden i lost power when going up hills .. got a mis fire.. antipolution warning and catalyst warning displayed, so i took it to be put on engine management computer which stated a problem with misfire on piston 4. so i changed spark plugs and the coil. some of the power has come back but at the same time as this fault i noticed the engine rocking backwards and forwards...
does anyone have any ideas |

| when engine starts after a few minuets engine management light comes on but when you touch the brakes its used to go out and then come back on after a while and go out when brakes were applied but now when i drive it after about ten minuets the engine light comes on but dont go off when brakes applied it stays on and the van runs lumpy and wont tick over any ideas please |

i just bought this mondeo and on the day i picked it up, and after doing just 7 miles it came over all lumpy and cut out. then it would turn over but not start. i called the rac and they checked it out and said it could be the fuel pump or timing chain.
i put it in the garage as it had warrenty cover, and they have checked most things and are now going to check the injectors, but have said it could be more internal problem.
has anyone had this happen to them? and if so what was the outcome/cost.

| the illumination to the digital mileometer has suddenly gone. the digits themselves are still visible but only just, they should be illuminated all time the ignition is on even without the sidelights being on. some of the other areas of the instrument panel are dim now so clearly it is only bulbs. does anyone know how to get the dials out, is it easy, safe to do? the car has a driver's side airbag. looks like the instrument panel is held in with torx screws but not really sure. any advice most welcome please. could you email any answer to me at neil.audley@yahoo.co.uk please. many thanks. |

| car judders constantly and diagnostic light on. 3 months ago garage used diagnostics to verify fault with coil pack;new one fitted-problem sorted.temporarily, 6 weeks later the same problem- garage changed spark plugs-problem sorted-again temporarily- last week same symptoms-new coil pack but no better. i suspect that engine has been burning oil as i am using a litre every 800m. please help |

all of sudden the screen showed battary kight,check engine lightm od light. after checking found the alternator is o/charging battary over 18,5 volt. replace new battary, battary light still remain and other light off. after 48 hours restart but no light battary dead. boosted the new battary ( which showed only 1 volt), found small water leaks from the battary side and engine running fast/slow ( hunting) what shall i do.

hi,
we have a 54 reg vectra estate 1.8 that has some kind of fault with the alarm. are you aware of any faults with the alarm system on these models? we had an error symbol appear and on consulting the handbook rang the vauxhall dealer,he was only able to suggest someone may have tried to break in but bring it in for a diagnostic test. as there was no evidence of an attempted break in we took it for the test and they found the fault is in the boot compartment. we have a lively young dog who they said may have damaged the alarm in the side windows. unfortunately without further testing they cannot identify which window is to blame (there is no visible break in the line) and have suggested a new window at £300. this seems a ridiculous solution as there is nothing wrong with the window itself, and in the meantime we are unable to lock the car at all either using the remote or the key, the best we can manage is all doors with the exception of the drivers door locked. is there any way to disconnect part or all of the alarm?
hope you can help.

i have the divers side rear brake sticking on the caliper moves freely i and have replaced the flex line the discs and pads are new and the hand brake pads also. my macainic does'nt think changing the caliper will solve it, as it moves freely.
any thoughts on this would i would be grateful for. thanks |

| my galaxy has an intermittent starting problem. you turn the key, the lights come on on the guage, but nothing else happens. no click from starter motor or any noise. if you wiggle the key and perservere it will start eventually. i had the ignition barrel replaced about 7 months ago and it was fine. but the problem has returned. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

| was 'jomped started' the other day by a recovery service and ever since the manufactuers alarm system works but no longer emits a flashing red light but more importantly, when i indicate left or right the indicators come on double flashing. i have replaced the flasher unit thinking the original one may have been damaged by a surge when 'jumping' the battery but not so. is there anyone out there please that might be able to help. thank-you. |
