| my micra seems to have a fuel tank breather problem, drives ok for a while then begins to misfire, stop the car open the petrol cap an air rushes in an then car runs fine til vacuum builds up. happens alot quicker wen tank is full, anyone know if there's a breather and where it is. |

| hi i was driving my car for about an hour, all of a sudden the engine got louder, and a loss of power, and dosnt pick up until the turbo kicks in, no warning light sounds like a slight knock at top of engine. so took cam head off, are the things under there the rocker arms and valve springs, because ive been told the valve spring might have gone. oil is fine, temp fine no overheating, no brown gunk in cooling system. the car still starts fine but struggles and sometimes cuts out. listend to the rocker and springs and the far right sounds diffrent to the rest. could this be the problem. is there any other idication that these could be gone rather than sound. please help thanks!!!!!! |

hi, the temp on my car shot up today and i opened the bonnet and there was water gushing out of a crack in the top of the expansion tank. can anyone tell me if this is a common problem and is it easy to just change the expansion tank also the heater fan isnt working is this related?

| the thermostat does not work in the cold,, its fine all summer, as soon as the cold weather comes in the thermostat jumps up to the overheating position, changed the thermostat the first time it went like that, but now we leave it and it goes back down to normal, then jumps up again, engine doesn't appear to be overheating. |

| hi all, ive just bought the above mentioned car, and now heres the tricky bit, the speedo and fuel gauge work fine, the computer reads out the mpg and range. but the analog rev counter, mpg counter and temp gauge do not work, any one got any ideas, ive checked the fuses and they look all ok, could this be a relay fault? if so which one? many thanks |

i have 167000 miles on the clock and have two main issues
1: the power seems to be a lot less than when newer, is there anything that can be done to give more life back to the old girl...?
2: recently on a long journey, over 250 miles none stop (job for vehicle is delivery) when coming off the motorway decelerating in gear (engine braking) there was a whining noise, i drove very steadily for the rest of the journey and the ldv seemed ok, but am worried it could be a problem waiting to happen, does anyone have any ideas? the noise has not been as bad since but i have been driving carefully since???

the car is sluggish starting so changed the battery.
i drive the car for a few miles, stop then when i get back in the car is totally dead, i leave it for 20 minutes and it starts again. is this the starter motor. the new battery is also sluggish again. |

| i have a brake judder coming from the rear brakes. i have changed the bearings, wheel cylinders,shoes and hubs and the wheels have been balanced to. but still it shudders. when i drive at 40mph it is fine but as soon as i get to around 50mph and have to brake then it shudders badly. any help out there cheers |

hi i recently put my car through the nct and it failed on emissions it's ok ticking over but failed on the higher revs, when driving up through the gears it's fine but when i stop accelerating it miss fires and makes a rumbling sound and when i accelerate again it miss fires again anyone know what causes this. thanks!

| i have an intermittent fault with the direction indicator lights. more often than not, when i indicate to turn left or right, the light shows up on the dashboard and the side lights come on - but they stick instead of blinking. on some days they work perfectly and on others they do't work at all. any ideas? |

| anyone got any idea on this , just bought a grand espace and its great apart from it wont start in the mornings as such , the whole dash flashes and flickers as do the interior lights after maybe 30 minutes of this they steady and it will fire first time, yet if i go out later in the day it will start first time without any of this , i was wandering if there is any known fault for this or if there is a way to disable the imobiliser so i can actualy just get in and start it , the immobiliser wont come off until its finished it light dance show |

| i've got a rumbling noise coming from the front wheels its happens at all speeds and they squeal under light breaking, i've had checked the discs and pads, wheel bearings, c.v joints all seals and boots nothing leaking or excesive movement....whats going on?!?!?!?! |

i have a fuel problem ,no fuel getting to the injectors, fuel is returning to tank through the return line, the shut off soleniod my be the problem , does the soleniod de-energized when starting the engine or energize. i isolataed the wiring and put a live wire to the soleniod to energize it, as i cranked over the engine still cant get fuel to the injectors.

hi everyone, i've just bought a scenic that was repaired from cat d (had a small bump in rear bumper) the only problem is the remote fob won't open the central locking, also i don't have the red master key just a black one...does this mean trouble? i've been told it's the sensor and was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how they managed solve it.

problem needles on dashboard drop. petrol needle shows 1/4 full then when driving along the needle drops, it is in the red and petrol light comes on, other needles on the dash board drop also and millage lights go out and then after a couple of seconds all needles on the dash board return to normal and the millage lights up (millage drove starts from zero).
can anyone help solve this problem, please? or can anyone explain what is making this happen, thanks? |

it seems that when i use my car from cold first time for the day it works fine and get up to temperature, all good,
but let it get stone cold again and use it and it will die every time you stop for the next 20 or 30min.

| can anyone advise why my earh wire has burnt out. i turned the key to start the engine when i noticed smoke coming from the bonnett which as it turned out was the plastic from the earth wire melting right back into the fuse box. none of the fuses were blown though. i cut off the yellow plug and rewired with a length of new wire to the earth using femasle spade type connectors but minute the i reattached the battery the same thing happened again. any one out there have a clue because i dont? |

| with air condition on or off, outside temp 23c plus, the blower fan will work for 5 minutes then switch off for approx 5-10 minutes then start blowing again then cuts out again after 3-5 minutes. in the cold weather the blower works fine blowing warm air. the air condition system on the car has been service and two sensors have been replaced on the air con system. |

| i have a few problems at the moment. firstly, one that's really bothering me. when i put my clutch in to change gear or to coming up to a junction where i put my clutch in to come to a stop, it makes a wierd revving noise. it doesn't happen on every journey, so i don't know whether or not to take it into a garage, incase they don't experience it and can't sort it out. also, my right hand indicator is flashing and clicking on double time, as if to tell me that a bulbs out, but all of them seem to be working... if anypone could help me at all, it'd be much appreciated :) |

| air seems to be escaping fron the jet/glow plug area on the cylinder head. i have checked it with soapy water and it spits and bubbles. there is a noise assiciated with this leak. i have run in car diagnostics. no problem with compresion or temps on oil or water. no sludge in oil car drivers normaly with no loss of power only problemseems to be the noise? i would like to get it sorted before it becomes a bigger problem, can the jets/glow plugs work loose? or can the head be re-torqued? if so what is the correct torque setting in nm? |

hey - whenever i drive my car in hot weather, the speedo doesnt work properly. its shakes its way up when i'm pulling off and whenver i stop it stays a 20mph.
it shows me how fast i'm going when i do 30mph, 40, etc, but the needle is shakey. any ideas - i thought if its something loose then it would be like this in colder weather aswell |

| just had my laguna electrical problem fixed after many months of frustration.the problem was when i used my indicaters all the lights on my dashboard would come on ,my fuel gauge would change to another level so i had no idea how much fuel i had in the tank,the rev counter would die then when the indicater had moved back to its original position everything went back to normal except the fuel level.the car suffered no loss of performance what so ever but as you can imagine everytime you used the indicaters it was like blackpool illuminations and very annoying.i took the car to two garages who between them checked all the earth points,fuses,even changed the clocks but all to no avail so i took the car to a renault specialist not a deelers by the way and they found out what was causing all the problems.when they told me what it was i could not believe it,the problem was that i had the wrong spark plugs in the car which was causing an electrical spike with the cars e.c.u. unit,so they put genuine renault plugs in and to my amazement the problem has gone away.hope this helps anyone with the same type of fault. |

| when i try to start my golf it seems like it's either struggling to receive petrol or the automatic choke is not working. after about 6-7 swings it finally starts but the revs are very high between 1000 and 2000 and regulates up and down while driving or idling, and it's eating petrol like sweets!!! i am very worried and confused. please help |

| problem when you start car it stalls straight away when warmed up it idles better but is a bit lumpy coils have been changed as this is what renault rekoned still the same have replaced throttle body and petentiometer checked for air leaks seems to be ok any ideas would truly be grateful as am now at a dead end on renault tech seems to know what it is |

| had my renault for just comeing up tp 2yrs now very happy with it etc kept my service book up to date stamped etc proper garage genuine renault parts..saturday just gone it broke down got aa to tow me home then on to renault garage in chester north wales they said the engine has gone and im liable for buying a new one because the oil in it is like treacle to thick etc the mechanic said its smashed the timeing chain and caused it to smash cant believe this can any one help dan |

hi all,
i purchased a new turbo from autovaux last week in which it is advised to get a vxr turbo to replace old unit.
i purchased for use on my zafira gsi with advise as this is the better one to run as i could not get my original turbo repaired as beyond repair.
anyways the turbo as been fitted for a week and getting some strange problems.
it seems to be getting very very hot and also glowing bright red hot from turbo/manifold area underside to right of actuator and sheild which never happened before with the old turbo.
im not even hammering it or put foot down often seems to even happen on normal running
but car seems to be running fine thou but creating a burning smell of heat!!!
also the temp gauge inside car is not going over 80 degrees??? when vauxhall's always usually run at 90 degress.
any help or advice you can give please????

hi,
my abs and esp warning lights have come on last night, my car is under warrenty.
this morning i took it out for a spin as it was my partner driving it when they came on. the lights were on for the first minute or so and now they have gone off.
i rang peugeot this morning to book it in and they claim the on board computer has fixed the problem itself so we dont need to take it in.
i dont believe them as we have had so many problems with this car and we have been fobbed off, like a tapping noise they said the car was designed to have was infact a problem with the manifold. so i guess i would like someone to conferm wether this is possible or not (the car computer fixing the abs) and if not what could be wrong with it.
also is the car safe to drive, i have 2 young children so im reluctant to use the car now when they are with me. thanks for any help and appologys for the long post dominic |

the head gasket was repaired by a garage, however they did not reconnect the engine cooling fan. 5 months later i had to take the car in for repairs to the engine management system, replace ignition coils and amp pack & blown fuses. the car was overheating in traffic jams. also lambda sensors needed replacing.
question- has the unconnected fan had an influence on all these problems |

| renault starts up instantly, but will not rev up. if you leave it to idle for 3 minutes, it then revs up perfectly and runs okay. turn ignition off, and same problem again. checked entire fuel system and no fault detected, any help or comments much appriciated as its driving me nuts. |

lowe mileage 50k. use to run sweet. left it stood last summer for three months. batter low, would not start. put trickle charger (vlow voltage) on for a day. tried start. no go. took out injectors, no probs, checked plugs, no probs but no spark. bought multi plex tool and carsoft 7.6 crank sensor fault. replaced with genuine. started fine. whenever hot, car engine rocks on mounths runs rough at idle and stalls. even some times when just normal temp..intermitent. changed o2 sensor. no fault codes. looses power intermittently (like a limp home mode) switch off ignition and straight on and fault disappears). how to stop poor idle and stalling as run up to lights/junctions, especially when hot?
driving me mad. great van, drives great above idle. i suspect using more fuel than normal, but ecu costs more than the van is worth??? |

hi i have a nissan primastar 1.9dci it runs fine untill it gets hot after about 20 minutes then the glow plugs lights come on and cuts out. it will start when it has cooled down, , i have had it on a tester and showing these faults codes
1, ecu voltage low 176
2,fuel pressure high 76
3,fuel pressure solinoid 83
4,cam shft sensor 70
73pedal pedometer trac 2
an ideas? ps i have changed fuel filter, dismantled all wires that are easy acessable inc. ecu and sprayed termnal cleaner the problem bad but still cuts out when hot, my only guess it seems like air in fuel |

| when cold my car sometimes pumps out white smoke and develops a missfire. i get a very jerky ride when cold due to the above fault. i have not had the car long and the dealer has replaced the erg valve, this has helped a bit but there still seams to be a fault can any 1 help. |

can anyone help?.. the engine light keeps coming on and when my friend (trained mechanic)checks it on a diagnosis machine (if that's what it's called) the following message comes up.
p1483 not present. fan relay 3 signal low/open circuit. engine coolant blower motor relay 3 nil.
unfortunatly he dosen't have the wiring diagram for a meriva 8v because they don't do vauxhall any more, so he can't find all the relays. he has changed 1 for the cooling fan but it still reads relay 3. question, does anybody know where relay 3 is fitted on a meriva 8v??...he has looked everywhere!

my convoy van doesnt open the bonnet any more,
i even took the cable out from the pull mechanism and pulled on the cable with pliers but nothing, anyone with a similar experience on an ldv, can i take the grill mask under the bonnet out somehow to get access without damaging the mask ? |

| bought car not long ago and have discovered problem that when i go up a hill in 5th gear i start to lose power, if the hill is long enough i can drop quite a few mph. putting my foot to the floor makes no difference, i have to drop to 4th to maintain speed. car seems very thirsty too, even for a 2ltr petrol. any ideas? |

hia... when we turn our car off it makes a whirrrig noise from under the bonnet for quite a while (hours sometimes),,, all the dash warning lights that are connected to the breaking system seem to light.
